A Slight Pause by midori-no-ink A Slight Pause by midori-no-ink
Part pauses for a moment as he and Hana are walking in the rain. Tsk, Part, where is your jacket?! Bad things could happen if you don't wear it...that rain looks cold...

*whistles innocently*

Why do I seem to live to torture that boy? Ahem, anyway, Hana looks a bit concerned. I think he's been doing that quite a bit as they walk along...

The line-art for this has been sitting around since sometime in the fall, and in order to get some energy to motivate myself to study, I decided to finally color it ('cause, you know, the school year's practically OVER and I have two tests tomorrow).

Took a little longer than I would have liked...but I think it came out interesting. And it retains the style that's comfortably mine, so I feel really good about it. I know the umbrella's all kinds of wrong...but right now? I don't care. I wanted to color, I colored, it tells a story, I'm content.

4 x 5 inch smooth Bristol Board.
Foreground: Staedler 0.3 pigment liner, Copic and Neopiko marker.
Background: Copic and Neopiko marker, Prismacolor pencil. (I'm counting the white rain in the foreground as the background)

Lovely you were able to convey feelings without facial expressions. Thumbs up :)

Thank you :D Every so often I come across the original of this piece in my "portfolio" (random drawings folder) and still wonder how I managed to pull it off. I guess body language says a lot more than we give it credit for!

*gasp* That is SO cool. I love the way you did that; I've never seen anything like that from you. The umbrella is one of my favorite parts of the whole thing. And I like how you can still read the expressions and emotions on their faces even though they HAVE no faces.

Thank you  I suppose it is a little different, but still very much the same as my other works - I mean, the immense layering of colors is there, as well as all the usual media...but they've been applied slightly differently. I think the smaller size allowed me to really work into it :)

I was really hoping that the faces would work was a risky move, but I too think it worked out :) It's amazing how much can be left to the imagination, isn't it!

Love the way you incorporated rain the way you did and created a dark yet romantic atmosphere

Thank you! I felt like if I added facial expressions, the piece would be ruined :) I'm glad you think it's interesting that I left them out

Yes, you've nailed it - dark yet romantic is exactly what I was going for! Thank you for understanding ^_^ (and for the favorite - seriously, that was nice of you )

Heeee~ I knew you'd like it! Poor Part indeed  I had such a ball coloring this. It was really relaxing, but energizing at the same time!

This is adorable! I especially like the posing.. Part's so cute with his hand curled up like that! And the pink tinge... I see it. :3

Thank you ^_^ I wonder why it is that I was better at that kind of thing in the's supposed to improve over time and with practice, right? O_o;;

The pink tinge...hee...I was trying to keep it subtle, I admit...but it wouldn't be me if it wasn't there, ya know? I personally think it adds a bit to the cuteness

On an only slightly related note, I've come to have to think before I sign my work. More and more the date's been the only thing appearing in the corner...because I don't know how the heck to sign it :P (I love signing my name, so my signature's on the back of this one ;))

(And on a completely unrelated note, the phrase "come to have to think" is something I picked up from Japanese syntax. Haaa, I'm a lame-brain ^^;)
